Provision today announces a new partnership with CanadaGAP, following a successful review of the software’s logic and contents for food safety in fresh fruits and vegetables.
The partnership will allow use of CanadaGAP Food Safety Manuals within Provision software at no additional cost to growers and packers. Small operations are able to access the software for a subscription price starting at $95 per month.
Provision now serves as an alternative to paper, PDF, and fillable options in Word (available in Quebec) for the CanadaGAP Food Safety Manuals, which remain available for use in those other formats.
Since its inception in 2008, CanadaGAP has been adopted by more than 3,000 companies that produce, handle, and broker fresh fruit and vegetables. The Food Safety Manuals enable participants to meet international food safety requirements without procuring costly services to develop customized compliance programs.
Already, roughly one in seven CanadaGAP participants have signed agreements to use Provision software – a number the company says is rapidly growing. This includes significant operations such as BC Tree Fruits, which holds the largest market share for apples and cherries in British Columbia.
Provision’s features enhance the CanadaGAP Food Safety Manuals to reduce time, cost, and risk in compliance.
Using Provision, growers and packers get reminders to complete food safety and quality assurance tasks, with alerts that prevent missed records. Requirements from the manuals are hidden and revealed based on prior answers, preventing frustration in otherwise lengthy documentation of procedures. Smart rules detect process non-conformities as they occur. This helps growers and packers to be ready for an unannounced audit at any time. And with customizable reports that automatically summarize records, food safety audits can be completed faster.
These advantages have led to the widespread adoption of Provision since its inception in 2018. Its food safety software is currently used for more than half of the refrigerated food shipped in Canada.
